Best Weekend Getaway for Home Stagers and Decor Bloggers

May 03, 2019

We LOVE hanging out with other entrepreneurs in the home staging and interior design industry, so our recent trip to Waco, TX was PERFECT. We met 11 other home decor bloggers and influencers in Waco for an amazing weekend of bonding, learning from each other, and getting some GREAT tips on blogging from Tana Nelson (her website is yourmarketingbff.com). It was by far the best getaway for home stagers and decor bloggers/social media influencers.

Why WACO, TX??

Chip and Joanna Gaines (the cute Fixer Upper couple), have completely revitalized Waco. What was once a sleepy college town between Dallas and Austin is now a top tourist destination. Chip and Jo (that is what the locals all call her) have built the GORGEOUS (and super FUN) Silos. We are sure you have seen their Hearth & Hand™ line at Target, but their store (and bakery, gift shop, and restaurant) in Waco is -- a DESTINATION.

Where to Stay

Whenever we travel, we like to stay in AirBnBs for two reasons: the location is almost always better AND there is a place to hang out (late-night chats about home decor, entrepreneurship, and social media are so much more fun lounging on the sofa next to the fireplace). For your Waco trip, you will definitely want to stay at the Green Door Lofts. With plenty of space to chill, every amenity you could think of (including a heated pool), and fresh homemade cinnamon rolls in the morning, this place is perfection.

Where to Shop

The Green Door Lofts are located in the heart of downtown, making them an easy walk to The Silos and other must-do shopping experiences including The Findery, Spice Village, and Linen & Cake, all Instagram-worthy boutiques brimming with treasures that you will want to fill your suitcases with.

Stop by Courtney's Boutique to pick up that perfect outfit-- several of us loved what we bought so much that we wore our finds out of the shop!

Where to Eat

When we weren't having heart-to-hearts, taking selfies, or shopping, we were eating. Who knew Waco, TX is a secret foodie gem?! Across from the Green Door Lofts is Klassy Glass Wine Bar & Bistro which will give you an unexpected appreciation for Texas wine. Tip: Their flatbread pairs well with the house merlot. For your sweet tooth, order from Pie Peddlers Bakery. Our amazing host, Jill Stout/Gathered Grace, had some waiting for us when we arrived and they were decadent.

For breakfast, we went to Harvest on 25th TWICE! It was sooooo good the first morning that when we couldn't get a reservation at Magnolia Table (the wait was going to be over 2 hours in the pouring rain) the second morning, we hopped in an Uber and headed back to the on-trend and yummy Harvest on 25th.

For dinner, we recommend two places that absolutely rolled out the red carpet for us: 135 Prime for amazing steaks, and Brazos Bar & Bistro for a charcuterie board and cocktail with a presentation that NEEDS to be photographed-- and included edible flowers!

Make it Special

Jill Stout/Gathered Grace, worked hard to think through every detail for our trip-- ensuring that we all had a relaxed time that made us all feel special. She filled our AirBnB with arrangements from Dollar Hydrangea, arranged for Legacy Limos to tour us around, had Pizza waiting for us when we arrived, and gave us the cutest goodie bags filled with Waco treats and clay masks.

As a social media influencer or home decor blogger, it is important to know interior design principles, understand color, and how to choose the perfect shade of tile/paint/fabric for every room.
